Ashtray sizes

Do i and il e38 have different sized rear ashtrays? I am attempting to buy wood ashtrays for my rear short sport but do not know if they will fit from an il car. I heard the sizes are different but there is no forum thread to confirm. Thanks!

Yes, the il rear door ashtrays are rectangular while the i are more trapezoidal so they are not interchangeable.

The I and the IL are different sizes.
Please ask the buyer before you purchase them

Just an FYI (for future reference)...this could easily be found by using one of the online part databases (like www.realoem.com or www.bmwfans.info or https://bimmercat.com/) . If they have the same part nbr...then they are exchangeable...but they don't, so the answer is no. You can also click on the part nbr to see what other BMW models use the same part...and when you do...the "iL" (LWB) & "i" (SWB) don't show up in the list for each's rear ashtray.
