So when I had bought my 325ci the rear view mirror was off of the windshield as was the metal triangle that it attaches to leaving only the base with the small nub to attach it to. I've tried gluing the small metal triangle back on but to no avail. Does anyone have any experience with this that could shed some light on what I need to do?
As I remember it, there are only 2 parts that attach the mirror to the windshield. There's the metal triangle that is part of the mirror (they're springy metal rods inside the mirror), and the base that's glued to the windshield. And while the base glued to the windshield is also triangular, I don't remember there being any sort of "nub" underneath that base. I suspect that maybe the base has broken into 2 pieces.
The metal base is glued to the windshield then the mirror is installed. Since the mirror came off the metal base should be still in the mirror assy remove it get some rearview mirror adhesive from auto part store clean base of old glue and use razor blade to remove residue from windshield the glue metal part back on hold down with tape let it dry over night then reattach mirror assy
