Can anyone offer some options for upgrading radio head unit in this car? I'd like to find something that doesn't look out of place in the car, but also offers bluetooth for both phone and A2DP if possible. Also the speakers in this car need to be replaced. I pulled the rears out while doing the suspension upgrade and I see that the speakers have gone through some serious decomposition over the years. I'm not looking to make this into some 'audiophile' car setup. Just want it all to work before sending it off to college with the kid in the fall.
Thanks, Derek

The current VDO/Continental units are close and not too expensive, have all the modern day features.

Just make sure you look at the 12v units, not the 24v ones.
As for speakers, they may not be audiophile but they work just fine, are plug and play and not too expensive, check out Bavsound.

+ good stuff
+1 for Bavsound. Decent upgrade but you pay a bit extra for the plug and play convenience.
I use a Pioneer DEH-80PRS. It is a very capable unit and you can almost exactly match the stock amber lighting since you can adjust RGB. It's not as stock looking as the VDO units but not too flashy like most modern head units.
This would be perfect if you changed the lighting:

You can try Becker Indianapolis, Becker Traffic Pro is th older version , it has really good sound , also has Bluethooth and phone features plus the stock oem look. If you find the BMW Beckers they support MFL steering wheels
