rough idle

hey everybody. at idle. the car revs back and forth between .5-1.5rpms. i’m not on the gas or clutch. car revs up and down by itself. i’ve been told the car runs rich but what’s it mean?

This condition is typically caused by a clogged idle control valve...it sits on top between the intake boot and intake. Removing this valve, cleaning it, and adjusting your throttle cable will normally take care of it. I'm sure there are YouTube videos out there on how to do this.
