Good morning, I need to pull a seat out of my car to repair the cable drive mechanism. Do I need to disconnect the batteries before I unplug the electrical connectors under the seat? I guess it's smart to disconnect the batteries to prevent any kind of electrical short or other issues. Thanks,

If you are going to remove the seat, you will need power to it so you can access all 6 bolts. No need to disconnect the battery, just unplug the seat connections when you go to remove the seat.

I would add that if your model year has either the passenger occupancy seat mat or the belt buckle sensor - then you need to disconnect the battery just before disconnecting the seat connections otherwise the SRS light will be illuminated!

Thanks for the help! I have a 91 model and I don't believe it has the passenger seat sensor or seat belt sensor. I have never noticed an SRS light come on
