    M2C - Top Speed of 174 MPH?

I purchased the new M2 Competition and after 1,000 miles of use can only ask myself, "Why didn't I purchase a BMW M-car before now"?

My inquiry concerns the claimed top speed of 174 mph with the purchase of the M Driver's Package option. Other than taking the car out on the highway and trying to reach this speed, certainly not recommended, is there any other way to determine is this alteration has been implemented?

This has been my first post to this extraordinary forum.

    Thanks very much,

    Jay

I think your only option is to take the car to a race track with a looooong straightaway. I own a 2018 M240i. It’s been claimed that without the 155mph speed limiter the car will do 172mph. So I bet your car will do 173mph. You might check YouTube to see if anyone in Germany (think autobahn) has the same car as you and has run it on the autobahn. Btw, the speedometer in our cars is typically 3-5mph optimistic. Get the Speed app for your smartphone or tablet. It uses gps to determine your speed.

    are slow.
I suppose there is no way to tell the software change was implemented outside of testing it, however 174mph sounds about right with a stock M2. Downpipe and tune should be in the 180's, full bolt ons might touch 200 depending on the wind lol. The highest stock turbo M2 I've seen is around 450whp, which is crazy considering how fast they feel in just the stock power levels.

At the stock power level, it's going to take a LONG time to get to 174mph.
