    Launching

I hope this is in the correct thread. I know this is probably going to sound like a really rookie question to a lot of you, but I'm having trouble launching my car. It's not like I'm killing it or anything, I just want to know how to do it more smoothly. I went to a (completely safe and legal &#128563 parking lot today to practice launching my e90 335iXDrive at around 2,000 RPMs. I noticed even when releasing the clutch pretty slowly, my RPMs would drop significantly when tried to launch it (to about 1,000). I killed the car once doing this, and I could smell the heat when I started the car. So I let it cool off, and then I tried just starting the car normally around 1,000, and I noticed it was still dropping to about 700. I don't want to damage my clutch, but I would like to learn how to launch my car at 1,000 right and then at 2,000 with minimal damage. I just got my clutch replaced, and I hope it's not so damaged that I'll have to replace it again soon. If anyone could also help me know if shifting quick or slowly to let the RPMs match is better for the car and/or times that would be great too. Thank you guys so much!

How recently did you have the clutch replaced? You know there is a break-in period to get the clutch material bedded into the flywheel? If you slip a new clutch too much, you could glaze it, and then it's garbage.
