    Driveshaft debacle ?

While venturing my 99 2.3 into a project build last year. the driveshaft was pulled, I noticed the slop in the rear staked-in U-joint, so I decided to cheap out, and purchase a Dorman driveshaft from Rockauto, at the time I couldn't install it, cause the diff was also dropped. so it sat on the shelf until this week, only to find that the front half is 3/4" longer than my OEM, but the back halfs are the same length, but the Dorman doesn't have the staked-in U-joints. Did a test fit, the Dorman shaft is a little to long, decided to split the two, and with the OEM front half, the Dorman back half now fits perfectly. Thought id call around to try and get this thing balanced, only to get snubbed, because its a split shaft.
I guess the ? is, if for some reason it does vibrates, is it possible to drop the shaft, and turn the front half a cog or two, until it quits?

    You could try that.
You might get lucky and find a sweet spot.
My guess is that whatever you do there’s going to be some speed that causes it to vibrate.

Weird that no one will balance it.

Thanks for the response, but yeah man, the shaft back half has beefier U-joints than the shaft that came out, would like to make it work, was just curious if anybody has any luck with dropping the shaft a few times, changing the position of the front half to remove any vibs. But for now ill wing it, im sure it'll definitely reveal its self, with rear poly bushings, and stiffer trans mounts, and of course a new guibo.
