I know years ago people were talking about other seats that needed serious floor and/or rail mods, like E36, E46, E38 and E39 etc, with the consensus they won't bolt straight in. But recently I've heard it's possible to swap manual adjustment E90 seats straight in. Has anyone else heard of this or can confirm?
I haven't been able to google anything for the E34 so maybe it's more of a E30 swap thing and more talked about in those circles? I found a thread mentioning them but no conclusion.
My seats are bad condition flat 'comfort' seats in the wrong colour and e34 parts are very hard to find locally now. I like the manual sports seats in the E90 and there's a lot more of them wrecking locally.

This shows E90 seats using four bolts, so it won't directly fit the E34's two bolt and two hook setup.
One word: hooks
E34 seats have hooks in the front, which are only a direct swap with e32 seats. All else will need some sort of solution fabbed up, I doubt the newer seats mount with hooks.

If you're after some good seats for your E34, check out http://www.peninsulabm.com/
I bought a complete set of seats for my E34 from them for about $700 which included shipping. They were excellent condition too, no rips or scuff marks, they just needed a little cleaning. They'll likely have the color you're after and they also sell seats separately so don't let that $700 price tag scare you.
I laser cut some adapter plates that utilize the stock mounting, then give me 4 holes to mount E36 seats. I got these out of a 318ti
