Someone is parting out a 2001 740il with an M62TU. He changed the guides with cheap ones and that was it. It makes some racket. I wanted opinions on whether or not the pros think its a deal breaker. I plan on moving all of my parts over to it chains, decent guides, tensioners, since I just replaced them all in my blown motor. He tried the lifter bleed technique and has had no success with the noise. Thoughts?

Or maybe I’m being impatient and I should wait till something else comes along.
That sounds like a loose spark plug

No, not through headphones to me. Sounds like the clank of guides, but like only one side. It’s pretty sharp. I have scheduled to drive some miles to see it. But it’s not that dull knock.

It sounds eerily similar to this. I wish this one was solved and a resolution posted.

Sounds like lifters maybe?
I’d find a known good engine.
