I just finished a bunch of stuff on my '90 750iL. The blower motor went up and the heater core had a small leak as evidenced by some minor morning fog at the bottom of the windshield. It hadn't had a good going through for about 70,000 miles, the valve covers were very rusty, it still had cosmoline all over the intakes, and since the blower motor is even easier to do with the intakes off...I decided to go for it. I sandblasted and painted the intakes and valve covers, bench cleaned the injectors and replaced the O rings and pintle caps, replace the plugs, plug wires, caps, and rotors, replaced all the fuel hoses and vacuum hoses, cleaned all the electrical connections and replaced a couple of broken connectors, replaced both belts and tensioners, replaced all the rubber mounts (oil filter housing, MAFs, intake supports, etc), replaced the motor mounts (one was toast and one cracked) and trans mounts (one cracked there too), cleaned the MAFs, replaced the throttle bodies with reman ones I got with the car, replaced all the intake/MAF boots, replace the trans cooler lines (one had a small leak), cleaned and sealed the intake gaskets (which were in great shape, thank you God), replaced the upper and lower control arms (one upper was starting to vibrate during braking) and the rear dog bones, replaced the hood and trunk struts, inspected the LAD system and shocks (all good), replaced the heater core and blower motor and checked out the sword, and took care of anything else that looked suspect. I think that's it.

Thanks. I did it over the course of a couple of weeks on my days off. Spent some time waiting for stuff to be delivered and waiting for nice enough days to sandblast and paint outside.
Yes, painting them definitely makes a big difference. Mine were really rusty as you can see in that one picture. It looks so much better now. Now I need to do some work on the body. Getting out some dents, fixing some scratches, and repainting the sunroof because the clear all came off of it. And I’ll be installing your chipset.
