    thermostat options

looking at replacement of the thermostat (getting code tstat stuck open) noticed there are the less expensive auto part store options and online some of the German made options. is there a major quality difference ? also i have a 5 speed trans and it seems i have a clutch fan and a electric fan, i have read that the manual trans didnt have clutch fans

If you have a clutch fan, just get rid of it. You don’t need it on a manual car.

The installation of aftermarket cooling system parts is strictly verboten. Why? They fail very quickly. Buy a Whaler thermostat and be done with it.

Replace the thermostat with a good part and if you do have a
fan clutch definetly don't take it off it's there for a reason

Wrong. The clutch fan is for automatic transmission cars only because the transmission cooler is in the radiator. Manual cars do not have a trans cooler and do not require constant cooling. That is why manual cars only have one fan - the electric puller fan behind the radiator. This car was either manual swapped, or someone put all the wrong parts on it. My guess is it was manual swapped.

Wahler thermostat only. Most parts stores repackage Wahlers and sell them as their house brand. Easy way to tell is open the box and look for the logo.
