    1a auto reviews

at 170k, i'm about to tackle replacing the front suspension, starting with the shocks/struts. i've found 1a auto that offer great pricing on the shocks with springs already attached, but as far as maker of the parts, they mention china aftermarket made to spec.

they have great reviews, but, what are your opinions?
    thanks!

Im extremely happy with their products and service. I ordered my entire front end kit from them 12/18/2018 8 piece suspension and struts for $448.90 shipped. So far my front end is good and tight after about 6mo.

No problem with install neither everything bolted right up.

Only complaint was the box that the strut assembly came in was beat to hell and a few scuffs on shocks but didnt effect product at all. I dont blame thim. I fault the shipping company.

their website states the parts are made for them in china. i'm always so leery of low priced parts as opposed to well-made parts, so i figured there have to be a few of their customers out here. Are there better choices to find a deal on suspension / front end parts?

The reason I asked is because Monroe products aren't really that great. There are many others that are better.
I've put them on a few cars just before I sold them only because the old ones were shot and new anything was better than blown struts.
If you drove your 530i 170K on the original parts then you may be satisfied with them.

They are decent, I had ordered brake rotors and pads from them, maybe control arms too, they worked well, not only for my BMW, but for my other cars.

I recently put Monroes on one of my cars. I find them a bit harsh, perhaps they will loosen up a bit with some miles. Can't speak to durability yet but for the price don't expect OE performance. They DO carry a lifetime warranty.
OP, if you can afford better you won't regret buying Sachs or Bilstein. The bare struts are ~$100 Original springs are usually fine and I can guarantee you those Chinese springs in the pre-assembled struts are crap and the rubber cushions junk too.
