    No start, error codes, need help troubleshoot

    Dear all, this my first post since joining. I have a 2005 545i with SMG. After one morning of “no start”, the car sat for a while which drained the battery. I have now charged the battery to 100% and it is being maintained with the trickle charger so I can performed diagnostic. Using a Foxwell NT520 I retrieved the list of code below. I am very handy but need help and guidance with understanding and how to proceed by elimination to fix the various codes. Someone please help!

    2E8B DME: Intelligent battery sensor, signal present
    2A67 DME: Valvetronic, actuator motor: activation present

    2DD8 No message, receiver DME, transmitter Active Steering present

    4FB5 SMG: Control unit: internal fault (A/C converter) not present

    4E91 SMG: Hydraulic-pump relay present
    4E21 SMG: Solenoid valve, gear selection, fuel injector 2 not present

    To many faults clear them all and start over also just because you charged the battery does not make it good, how old is it and did you load test it

    Does it crank at all?

    SMG problems can stop the starter from cranking.

    No it does not crank at all. I do hear some clicking noise, which sounds like it is coming from the passenger side

    Clear the codes and re scan. Those remaining are hard faults, which indicate faulty wiring, sensors, and/or dead and unresponsive control units.

    I bet the battery is toast. That clicking sound is from the starter. I bet the voltage at the starter drops to zilch when you try to start the engine. That starter takes a bunch of power. Electrical power is measured in watts. Watts=voltage x current (measured in amps). If the voltage drops the starter tries to draw more amps to compensate. But the battery can’t provide the required amps. Have the battery tested for cold cranking amps.
