Does anyone know if the homelink/garage door openers inthe mirrors used in late E series cars is self contained or if they use the diversity antenna? I would love to put that remote into some of my older BMWs.

I believe they are self contained, but I have been wrong before.

yes self contained. you might have to change some pins around in the connector for different models but thats should be it.

I recently put one in my 99 Z3 coupe! Just get 12V and ground to the right wires. Best to get the body side wiring and covers to make it look nice.Originally Posted by hodgess
