We noticed there two different style of tail lights on our M Coupe. One has red/white stripes where the other has all white. I don't think this is normal but couldn't find an explanation of the difference. Both have BMW logo molded into them. Any ideas?

Is one side a reversing light and the other a rear fog light?

Good question, all the searches I did come up with the red stripe tails, not the all white.

OK further investigation reveals 2 different sets of white indicator tails, but both were used on 2.8, and 3.0 and M Coupes.
No red stripes -> 63218399604, 63218399603
Red stripes -> 63 21 2 497 681, and 63 21 2 497 682
2001 Z3 3.0i -Oxford Green/Sandbeige
2016 428xi -Estoril Blue II/Black
2018 430iC- Estoril Blue II/Black
2018 330it - Melbourne Red/Venetian Beige/Black
