Hi, just new to this forum and there is sooo much info ! Very nice. I have a 70 '02 with a 5 speed (regular , not offset getrag 1st) , rally suspension, adjustable sway bars, and R compound tires. Car is a blast to drive in the twisties, BUT the poor stock engine is just tired and pushing a lot of oil past the rings. Mosquito abatement? You bet
Zo... I am on a budget , like a lot of us, and my limited research so far is that an M20 conversion might be the path to follow. I only found one thread here, that outlined parts needed for this. But before I leap I wanted to confirm what I should be aware of.
Staying with the stock injection and wishing to install a/c if possible.
Is there a steering rack conversion that is a decent option?
What about a clutch upgrade?
Brake upgrade , using the existing 320 bbs 13" rims?
Thanks in advance for you advice and guidance
Nice 2002s are getting pretty rare, why not investigate options for the M10? Crazy things have been done with these motors. The M20 is a bit of a wheezer anyway.
I know not the answer you want but I'd hate to hear of a good 2002 getting all cobbled up.
thanks for indulging
If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
If the M20 is a wheezer, what is the M10? An invalid? I have a 2002 as well with twin Weber M10, but am thinking about an M42 or M44 swap.
Why not go nuts and go with an M52? I kid. An m42/m44 would be a solid choice.

I am very familiar with M52 and S52 so one of those would be easier for me, but I have read the fit and weight of the M42/44 is a better match for the 2002.
