I have a 99 528 touring with the suspension light on. I have replaced the bags because they were original and also the right ride height sensor since i was getting a code for this. Since replacing the sensor i can not reset the sls light on the dash. I have read that the new sensor needs to be coded to the car before the light can be turned off. My question is how do i code the new sensor?I have access to inpa and know that the sensor is working by manually raising and lowering the height with the software. When i try to clear error codes i can hear clicking from the module in the rear.
The new sensor shouldn't need any coding... perhaps you got a bad sensor? If the sensors are all good, just clearing the errors should be enough to get the SLS working again. The system's still unhappy about something.

I looked closer today at the old sensor. There was some corrosion on two of the pins. Now the question is how do i remove the corrosion from the connector? I am assuming there is some. Do i chemically spray it or remove the harness and buy a different one? i am thinking De-Oxit here. Also what should the volt values to the sensors be when the vehicle is at a standstill? I am thinking 0 volts.
A contact cleaner would suffice. When I fixed my SLS, the compressor was dead (looked as if it was submerged in water) and my air springs were shot. I replaced the compressor and air springs, but the system still did not work, when I hooked it all back up. I found a video about doing a hard reset, and that worked. Disconnect the battery and turn everything on, in the car, that you can. I then let the car sit for about an hour. Came back, turned everything off, hooked up the battery and the compressor kicked on and aired up the car... No more SLS light.
The same results can be done with disconnecting the battery (both terminals)! wait 20 sec an the connect the cable end together for 15 seconds.
