So I have a really weird issue:
first, here are a few pictures of the interior of my car, because we all deserve pictures in every thread!

So so my issue is that my trunk actuator only works when the upper glove box is open! I kid you not. All doors and the gas door lock and unlock with the fob, but if the upper glove door is closed the trunk is 100% manual. If it’s open, the trunk works as usual.
i had the glove box out and back in and figure it must have something to do with the glove box lock, but what?
any thoughts?

Sounds like the wires going into the plug on the back of the glove box may be reversed.

I forget how it all looks, there are wires to the upper light, wires to the flashlight, and wires to the lock cylinder area(that one is a harness I think) am I missing something?
which wires could be reversed?

Make sure glove box lock (key cylinder switch ) is connected to a proper connection. Glove box lock has a "hotel switch", when you lock it, trunk will stay locked as you stated above. I think your glove box key cylinder switch connector connected to glove box latch, light switch. Recheck your connectors again.
Hello!
When you remove the glovebox, are there any wires just behind it?
Is is possible you have a wire that is loose or with broken insulation, and when the glovebox lid is open, it presses something and makes the wire connection 'OK'.
Other than that, does the glovebox have any light within?
It has both wires and lights! I’ll get it open this week and see what I see, hopefully it will be a logical fix. I will report back
