Hello,
I had some questions about a 1983 BMW 732i E23 that my mom had inherited from her mother just recently and wondered if I could possibly get some info from anyone who might be more familiar with older BMW's. The vehicle has about 90k+ miles and to my knowledge, everything is original. I believe she is hoping to sell it soon so I was hoping to help her sell it and be fairly knowledgeable when it does come to sell it. This BMW has a strange toolkit in the back too, not sure if thats common or not? I'll attach some pictures but I was hoping someone could help me with the value of the car? Thank you!

Man, that's a nice car, looks very original and really clean. Probably need more images showing more of the car and maybe an engine bay image, and post the last 7 digits of the vin number and maybe someone can run the options it was equipped with.
Value is subjective but nicer examples (with low miles) have been bringing stronger money recently, condition/history is everything and the more you show the better someone can assess their opinion of value.
Look on bringatrailer.com for comps, some are strong, some are stronger but you'll get an idea on your car pretty quickly.
If you were in California I'm be PM'g you instead of writing this.
That is nice. Love me some Euro.
The tool kits were pretty standard on these big cars, but it definitely helps the value (some) if it's complete. Those tools are getting pricey to replace.
It is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for the thing.
You have three pictures that work, one of which shows a dead odometer and missing floor mat. It is not worth as much as you think.
I make E23 parts.

Thank you all for the replies! The last 7 of the VIN is 7820754.
I believe she has original wheels and all the paperwork from when it was bought and shipped from Germany I believe. My mother's mother was the first and only owner so I think she has all the paperwork sooo I'm hoping all that will help with the value. I just cant really find anything on the internet where another one was sold or is up for sale so Idk where exactly to start to sell it. Where would be some of the best places to list something like this? Also I've added more pictures and such below. I forgot to mention it had a built in phone as well.

Under hood is messy and many incorrect items.
Trunk is a mess and missing tools in the kit.
Wheels are not factory.
Phone is 80s analog stuff, more stuff the next owner has to remove and fix.
You make zero mention of how it runs and drives. No mention on the HVAC. No mention of the electricals.
No shots under the car to eyeball structure, exhaust, suspension, brakes, tires, etc.
You do not have a gold mine on your hands. It is really neat as your family has had it so long, you should fix it and keep it as an heirloom. Be prepared to dump thousands into it so it is safe.
I am not going to tell you what I honestly think it is worth. I will tell you it is no where near a $10k car.
but wait those are the red screwdriver handles and that is big bucks. Used to be about 300 a set in good shape. Get em rechromed and maybe worth a couple hundred.
The car needs to be gone over by someone that knows the cars to make it look its best and minor issues corrected to get the most for it in its current condition. More money in may or may not get more money plus out, like fixing the HVAC and such.
It looks like it's been off the road since '87. If it's rust free due to its short life in service, it will be a nice start for someone's project.

That is a lot of mileage for a 4 year road life, 22,500 per year. Not impossible but...
I did 23k one year in my '85 300SD. Phew. Wore me O U T. Happy speed on the ol' OM617A with 2.88:1 diff is 67mph.
I think the advice given on the posts on the facebook group was good. As the car sits, it's probably a $5-7k car, depending on how it drives and does everything work as is it should. 732's aren't that common, but they're not as desirable as a 745, for example, especially with an automatic.
I remember in one of the Fb threads your mother said someone told her 'not to take anything less than $20k' but that's just not realistic.
Best bet to sell it is bring a trailer. They'll probably require it be a no reserve auction, so you've got a little risk there, but it'll sell.
