glad for you @Fatandre, a 850 is indeed something "more" than a 911 . More "car" for cruising , a 911 for sporty short trips.

Been commuting on my '96 850CI for about a year + couple of road trips. It had some PS hose issues which looked like rot and a fuel smell we were never able to track down or find residue, other than GM Capacitors and this bit it has been rock solid. Sometimes individual cars just have terrible problems, but don't necessarily reflect on the entire production run. On paper I'm looking forward to getting this car well into the 100K before anything major, but that would take a long time and I drive pretty modestly most of the time on it saving the really spirited stuff for other cars.

I've been semi-daily driving mine. I've had it for a little over 2 months, and I've put almost 1500 miles on it. It's been pretty trouble-free so far. It's the smoothest, nicest riding car I've ever owned. IMHO, these were made for daily driving.

I put 4K miles on mine this summer, It was going good until it ate the water pump. Which to be fair is common occurance on all BMW. And fairly common on a lot of other cars. I have lost count of how many I have replaced.

156,000 miles, Have had it for about 4 years, First year was rough as it had been driven regularlly for the previous 3 years, mostly intake, cover gaskets etc, fuel lines, fluid changes and caps, rotors, plug wires. been daily driving in summers for 3 years and pretty trouble free now. Always a list of unimportant things to do, but overall maint cost about $1000 per year max.

But you should have seen it before the previous owner got a hold of it. A lot of work went into it before you took over - glad it is working out for you.

Picked mine out of the garage today with warts and all gone be the daily driver for a couple of months. While the Z4m hide from the winter and has everything I can think of done to it to fix that strange engine hesitation while warm under low loads which makes it undrivable in the city as you have to drive like you are on a track when it works perfect.

Just have to remember to not run the old e31 too hard, at least my new glass and carbon fibre replacement for the leaky sunroof is in place and working proper.
