First off car has high mileage, 190k

no oil leaks, coolant leaks, no smoke when starting or driving.

no faults in car.

smg works like it should (terrible)

when first started in morning to drive to work the car will have a noticable surge in idle it will surge between 1k and 600 rpm in a very steady manner. if you start off driving you can feel it. it feels like i have huge amount of run out on my rotors and the brakes drag as the rotor comes around. (its hard to explain but that is what it feels like). Does this stopped or driving.

after about 5-6 miles it goes away and is smooth as it should be.

Now I understand the car is using valvetronic (variable lift) to idle the motor by very slightly opening the intake valves and it almost feels like it is going between the valvetronic and the back up throttle applications when it does this.

any idea. I no longer work at a dealership so I cannot update software at will, i seem to remember a bulletin for programming on this car but cannot locate it for software issues. Car has been in and out of dealerships its whole life but no programming lines in repair history.
