    Question Buying a BMW e30!

so I'm investing in a 1988 BMW e30 for $4,000 and I wanted to know if thats a good price?
it has 200k miles on it but runs smooth.
the person selling it to me is repainting the e30, new interior, service on the engine, suspension, brakes and control arms. as well as a new top. they are known for restoring their bmws. I guess I'm just a little on edge but I feel like I'm making the right choice. Can someone give me that reassurance? LOL. btw I'm a girl and have been wanting this car for YEARSSSS. and this would also be my first car.

    No e30s, again :(
that's awesome that your first car will be an e30. you will be a very popular girl with that.

convertibles usually don't sell as high as hard tops, here where I live. it might be different out there though. 4k could be a decent price as e30s are going up in value but it really is up to you if its a good price. if it makes you happy and you drive it and love, then its a good price. make sure the timing belt is changed though because it will cost you the head and maybe the engine and that head is getting harder to find so they are really going up in price to buy if a timing belt breaks on you
    No e30s again.

Sounds to me like you are getting a lot of car for $4000. If your buying it from a mechanic, and they are proud enough to do all of that work, then I doubt they are skipping anything that would lead you down a path of turmoil. Look at it this way, it sounds to me like they are giving you the car for free and you are paying for the parts and service work. But super j is right, asking about the timing belt is always e30 101, but I would be shocked if they weren’t already addressing that in the list of work that you already mentioned

200k is nothing for these cars so as long as the oil has been changed with 20w50 and the timing belt done i'd say it sounds like a good deal. Be sure to keep us updated!
