Learned something new today about my 750il issues

Just thought I would share something about my ongoing vibration issues with my 750il. After spending a large some of money I was still having not happy with the ride so I eventually got it back to the mechanic who fitted all the new parts and after taking it for a drive was adamant that it was a balance issue. Secondhand 18's mid range 245/45 tyres, correct wheel alignment specs and wheels balanced twice.

First thing he pointed out after spinning it up on the dynamic balancer was the red dot was not aligned with the valve so he remounted the tyre then eventually got both wheels balanced perfectly although he wasn't happy with the amount of weight required. It virtually eliminated the problem and I guess it demonstrates that someone who knows exactly what they are doing makes a huge difference as opposed to the workshop grunt who throws the tyres on then sends it out. I still may have some shock absorber issues and I seriously dislike the car with the 18's and the 245/45 tyres on the rough roads that I spend a lot of time on so will switch back to the 16's and perhaps some Kumho tyres in a 235/60/16.

You guys might already know about this stuff

It’s amazing how many shops don’t know to look for the red and yellows dots. Suspect in the persuit for best prices quality gets lost. I’ve had tires put on and weights galore applied because they didn’t take off the old weights.

    Interesting and thanks for sharing.

So I'm looking to get new summer tyres for my style 5 16s.
Can you elaborate on why you choose Kumho, and specifically which model number if you know.

I've been researching which to go with for a week and a bit, and came up with these if you'd be kind enough to share your experiences with your summer 16 tyres?

What's your take on the Nokian tyre : https://www.oponeo.co.uk/tyres/nokian/235-60-r16

    Thanks

We don't have seasonal tyres as our conditions are mild or bloody hot. I was considering Kumho as a mid priced quality tyre and the options are a bit limited in the 235/60/16 across the various brands and if I proceed with this I will post my thoughts but I definitely don't like the 18" wheels on my car given the general road conditions here. I have someone interested in buying the car so I may not even get to fit the tyres anyway.
