    Scan tool and diagnostics recommendation-codes EG5, 54C6, 6E3E

    Hi,

I recently bought an 2008 X3 that had three warning lights on: 4X4, airbag and brake (amber). I did the transfer case actuator gear replacement, and chnaged the fluid in the transfer case with BMW Xcase oil DTF 1 (850 ml). I erased the lights with a Creader 123 Pro but came back. The X3 feels like is running with a locked differential and acceleration is not smooth. I read that I need to reset the oil back to 100%, but this Creader does not allows me to do so.
I also cleaned all four wheel speed sensors and reluctor ring.

These are the codes I am getting:
    587E
    EGS Gearbox oil wear
    DTC Status Current

    54C6 Oil Wear
    Status Current

    6E3E
    Steering Angle Sensor Adjustment required
    DTC Status Current

What budget scan tool would allow me to calibrate the SAS, and the oil back to 100%? I have done my search but I was not able to find anything specific to these codes as to budget scan tool that I could buy.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello.

This depends greatly on your budget.
For instance, you can get Autel for 100$, which will give you access to engine, ABS and airbags.
For other systems, such as x-drive, you would need something like carly.

The Foxwell NT520 will allow you to reset VTG (transfer case) adaptations. You can clear the codes with it and with INPA. Not certain about the SAS code. Maybe INPA would calibrate it?

    Hi Harveyspecter,

Thanks for replying. I have the Cread@r 123 Pro and I have access to Airbags, Tranny, and ABS but cannot adjust anything. I can even have access to see the oil life in the transfer case but cannot reset it. Carly? I don't know if is a Diagnostics tool, scantool or software but I'd look into it for sure. I have been out of the BMW scene for a few years but happy to drive another Ultimate Machine.

    Thanks again

    Thanks Auto parts guy,

FoxwellNT520 Pro looks like it is in my budget. I am not really concern about resetting the SAS since it could be related to the xfer case issue. I will definitively give it a try. What other scan/diagnostics tool do you recommend to BMWs? My budget can stretch up to $300.00 if needed be.
