I have a 2007 E60 530i with manual transmission, sport package, heated steering wheel, HUD, night vision, and navigation. I got it last year with 98K miles on it.
On the iDrive menu where owners manual says it should say "Steering Wheel Buttons", this 07 just says "Steering Wheel Button" and it is only the Star button that can be programmed?
Anyone know why and if it can be programmed to do both buttons like the manual describes?
I cannot detect any function or response when I press the Diamond button?
I previously owned a 2006 E60 530i with iDrive but no navigation, automatic, pretty basic model, and I could program both the Star and Diamond buttons on the steering wheel.
That is rather odd. My '07 530xi shows about 5 options I can choose between the two buttons. Is it possible a previous owner had a different steering wheel that yours was upgraded to?
2007 530xi, Black Metallic Sapphire, 6 speed manual, Sport package, Cold Weather Package, Premium Package, Premium Sound Package, Sirius Satellite Radio, MTech front bumper, Replica Style 166 wheels
Thanks for the reply. Do you have the HUD? Seems that might be the only difference between our two E60's?
I don't think anything has be modified since this car was new. See how the below image of the iDrive display only says button and not buttons?
