So I bought a 2001 325i in January of this year replaced the valve cover gasket, the oil filter housing gasket, the spark plugs, and the ignition coils since. The key that came with the car (I only got 1) had a dead battery. It still started and drove and everything recently it would randomly not start I’d get in turn the key and it wouldn’t even crank. All dash lights come on the lights work I can play sound I played with the clutch safety switch, the key fob battery, and the starter relay, and each time it decided to start once and then wouldn’t start again. Any help is much appreciated!
No crank, no start usually is caused by either flat battery, loose main electrical connections, starter motor or EWS problems.
Get a really good scanner that can talk to all computers in the car and see what codes there are. INPA is a cheap scanner you can set up on a laptop, see link below.

1999 2.8L Z3 Roadster,
2000 3.0L Z3 Roadster,
There is only one thing more pleasurable than working on a Z3, that's driving it top down on a fine day.
So I forgot I had disconnected the - terminal and only slid it back on. tightened it down and it started just fine but a couple hours later me and a buddy had to roll it down a street to jump start. Is it possible the battery is weak now? I had the - wire loose for about 2 weeks. Also the crank is now kind of in and out or weak. Do I possibly need a new starter?

Hello!
First, check the battery posts and connectors to see if they are loose, of have traces of corrosion on them.
After that, if you have a multimeter tool, check the charge of the battery. It should be >12V with enging off, and >14V with engine running.
Weak battery is likely to cause cranking action to be slow and weak.
Hope this helps.
It has helped immensely the car starts almost every time now. However I replaced the battery on my fob from a video tutorial and sometimes I can lock and unlock the doors and other times not might this have anything to do with why it won’t start sometimes?
Also to bring about a new problem my car lives to play this game where when I’m accelerating the idle will bounce back and forth so I can’t tell exactly what rpms I’m actually at and idk what’s causing it or what negative effects it might have...
The fob battery and buttons have nothing to do with the transponder in the key. They are completely different and independent circuits. The fob battery has no effect on if the car will start or not.
There’s seems to be a lot of these threads popping up recently - I think the starter signal wire problem is really beginning to show itself.
