I just bought a 2006 325i that only has one working speaker- the front passenger mid. I went in the trunk and found it to have the hifi amp. I opened it up and found a couple of pieces on the circuit board that looked burnt up. If I had the money, I would replace it with a Technic harness with a JL XD600 Amp, but i'm on a tight budget for now. I've found several used hifi amps online and I was going to go ahead and buy one but I read something about coding issues on a thread. So my question is if I buy an identical hifi amp (assuming it's a working one), can I just slap it right in, or do I have to reprogram something? Thanks
I don’t believe the amp needs coding but I’d use google to find out. What caused the damage to the amp? Are there signs of water intrusion in the amp’s location? I’d definitely check each speaker to make sure each is not internally shorted and that the wires are ok. It’s no fun when you think you’ve fixed a problem and then you find out you’re back at square one!
