Hello, 3-series owners!
I'm a paralyzed vet and drive with hand controls. I have a lightweigh manual wheelchair that disassembles into several pieces and stows behind the driver's seat.
The best vehicles for my use are coupes with a large door. No offense to you Bimmer folks, but the doors and the opening from the seatback to the rear pillar are just too small. I'm in the process of restoring a 2nd generation Firebird (1970-81), which along with its Camaro cousin has some of the longest doors ever.
I need to replace the manual OEM bucket seats with power-adjustable seats, and I'm hoping some of you can provide the specs on two types of seats from the 3-series. I have a source for these in excellent condition that have been salvaged from totaled vehicles.
First choice is power seats from a 335i convertible (2007-13, I believe) with integrated seat belts.
Second choice would be the basically identical seats (non-convertible) without the integrated seat belts.
These are the measurements I'm requesting:
1. Thickness of the seat back at widest point (this is probably 6-8 inches or so, at the lower lumbar along the side of the seat)
2. Seat bun, front to back
3. Seat bun width, at top
4. Seat bun width, bottom
5. Distance between seat tracks (measured on center)
Thank you very much for any and all assistance,
Bruce
Hey chairwriter
If no one posts back before I do, I'll measure up my 2008 335i N54 E93 Driver Seat and post back.
Not sure I can measure the Seat bun width from the bottom though?
Apologies for the delay. I expected to measure this weekend. I'll target tonight.
Rubbish. I posted and then being really smart, I deleted it. Re posting.
1. 6.5" no lumbar inflation
2. 14" from front of back rest to end of seat cushion
2. 20" from front or back rest to front of retracted seat extension
3. 12 7/8" at front most (widest) part of seat bun
4. 11 7/8" at rear of seat bun
5. 16 1/4 to 16 5/16th", bolt, center to center of
It's raining or I'd get pics. (I got a couple and my last attempt to show I deleted my post, not again!)
