    FRM Failure and ISTA/D

Hi all, so from what I have read the X5 35D in my model year 2011 has some issue with ISTA D where if you run diagnostics sometimes it corrupts the FRM. Of course this happened to me, I have an app. At the stealership to get it hopefully covered on warranty but I am wondering a few things:

Does anybody know why exactly this happens ?

Is it only with ISTA d/p or can it happen with INPA as well ?

if BMW replaces the FRM is there a ‘fix’ for this issue? Or is it simply a hope it doesn’t happen again sort of deal ?

I was using a K+DCAN cable does it happen with ICOM ?

Lastly, is there anyway to backup the EEPROM through OBD port ? On the off chance it happens again ?

This is the same issue if people want a backstory

    Thanks!

As far as I know, the replacement FRM doesn't have that issue.
