Hello all,
First time post, but hopefully not the last, if I find myself in a used, but new to me BMW convertible.
I have searched for this comparison all over the internet, but haven’t really found anything with substance, so I thought this would be the place to ask.
I’m trying to compare the 2015 BMW 640i to the 2016 M235i convertible or similar years. It appears that used models of these cars can be bought for about the same price and they have the inline 6 engine. I would think they would be close in reliability, though the M235 would probably be a little better in performance being a lighter car, maybe the 640 a little better in comfort.
Can anyone provide the pluses and minuses of these cars? If you actually went through this same evaluation that would be extremely helpful.
I hesitate to mention this but the other car I’m considering is the 2015 MB E400, thoughts on that car if you landed on the BMW?
All replies are welcomed and appreciated.
Thanks, Eric
You're comparing apples to oranges. On one hand is a small, compact performance vehicle, and on the other hand is a large, luxury convertible. It really depends on what you're looking for. More stripped down performance, or a heavier, more luxurious feeling vehicle.

Thanks for the reply White94RX. Being that they are both convertibles, I was hoping someone may have experience with both vehicles and would know which was more reliable, and likes\dislikes for each car and why they chose one over the other.
I do like each, but I don't have access to either, without out driving over an hour away.
Take care, Eric
Ask yourself what you want first. Small, compact, sportier, nimble. Or large, GT, cruiser, thirstier, presence. Once you determine what you want, then you start looking at the cars.

Yes, I guess I was hoping to get nudged in one direction or the other, but it does ultimately come down to what I want. I believe I've settled on a 2 series convertible and I'm leaning toward the 228i over the 235.
Take care, Eric
