Hello everyone. It's been kinda a rough day but posting here will hopefully help.
My E30 325e euro spec just sheared the control arm right out of the front subframe. I hit a bump and there was a metallic grinding noise and the steering went completely wonky. I pulled over and saw this:

I had it towed and was able to move it into the garage with the help of a ratchet strap to hold the control arm into the lollipop but it's currently sitting "stanced" on the driver's side.

I'm tight on cash right now so i was considering using a junkyard subframe. Should I bite the bullet and shell out of a reinforced one? any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thank good it is the Subframe. The “lollipop” attachment would be much worse!!!

just get a junkyard one. that one has lasted all these years so a junkyard one will work for a good while
No e30s again.
I replaced the subframe and have put about 1000 miles on it. The steering has gone pretty bad. It pulls to the left most of the time, I have the hold the wheel at the 2 o'clock position to go straight, and the rack makes a clicking noise when I steer back and fourth with the engine off (from 11-1 o'clock)
Any ideas? Alignment or steering rack or both?
thanks
Swap/replace with 1.8L/1.9L E36 Z3 rack.

false alarm! the bolts that hold the rack in weren't properly torqued. All is well now. Thanks guys.
that's good news. its way easier to fix that then to have to remove and replace parts, ha ha ha
No e30s again.
