Air hose question

Hi all...

I recently replaced the intake boot on my '98 M3 and I noticed that the air hose that connects to the underside of the intake boot is starting to crack around the opening. The rubber strap BMW uses was starting to come apart so I used a standard hose clamp to put it back together. It seems to be on there better than it was before but I'm wondering if it's O.K. to keep it as such or is hose replacement a necessity? I looked up the air hose and it's not too expensive but it looks like replacing it might require taking a lot of stuff apart. The hose doesn't seem to be in bad shape except for the cracks around the opening. It seems solid but I definitely don't want to take any chances if this is a common failure point.

Any ideas??!!!

Have you done the M50 manifold swap? If not, that's a good opportunity to address any of those vacuum hoses (and anything else) hiding under the intake manifold.

You'll want to fix if it looks like it will start to leak air into the boot. You don't want any air leakage past the MAF.

Yeah, replace it. Intake vacuum/air leaks are a pain and should be fixed as soon as spotted.
