Hello,
I am in the market for a new car I am a former MB driver ('97 E320, '98 E320, '10 ML350) and over the weekend I saw a 2013 BMW 535i xDrive the car is beautiful and loaded (climate/Premium/Technology) package with 88K. The Carfax looks clean 2 years leases 2 years owned by 1 owner and all service was done at dealership.
I wanted to know what are the common problems the car is known to have that should be of concern. I am a DIYer and work on my cars (oil change, brakes, shocks...etc) but hear that this car starts to have major issues turbo and timing chain issue at 120K?
Can you share you experience?

A 535 will have the N55 engine. The timing chain was only an issue with the N20 engine in the 528. I've seen a couple turbos replaced here and there, but they have proven to be fairly reliable. At that kind of mileage, you'll be looking at the normal oil leak repairs if they haven't already been done, as well as a water pump at some point.

The oil filter housing gasket usually leaks first. It's a cheap gasket, but a little involved to replace. The intake manifold blocks one of the mounting bolts, so it needs to be unbolted and moved a little. The valve cover gasket will be next to go, as with any BMW. Lastly the oil pan gasket starts to leak. But that's usually past 100k miles, and typically can be pretty minor compared to the other two. An x-drive vehicle makes that a very expensive job as both axles have to come out, and the front diff has to be removed.
