BMW 3351 2013 Head Unit failed

The head unit failed on my 2013 335i. I removed the unit (part number 6512 9310468 - an entry NBT) and am wondering what the options are to get this repaired or a new unit. I found a company called Logic7repair who said they can fix this for $590 USD. Does anyone have experience with this company or other companies? Is the only option to get this repaired? I assume getting a new unit will be very expensive. Thanks!

You need to check the price of a new one. I don't think they're all that much money. But it may cost a little labor to program/code to the vehicle.

The most common failure as I know is the internal hard drive has failed. It's not terrible to replace, and many people do it. $590 seems steep, but I haven't had to have it done.

Is it NBT or the CIC (actually the entry)?

NBT has a wide screen, CIC has a less wide screen with plastic trim around it.

It is actually an NBT since it was taken from a 2013 335i (and I understand everything past 2012 was NBT). See attached pic of unit I removed and of the car. I have not been able to find any site where I can buy this new (other than going to dealer which I assume will be very expensive). Any ideas where I could buy this online to compare prices? As I understand it the recode could take hours and I assume a dealer would have to do it which also can get expensive.

That's not an NBT. It's a CIC system.
You can upgrade to NBT if you want.. but a used CIC would be cheap since everyone wants NBT or the newer NBT EVO.

Ok thanks! Not sure I need to upgrade the unit - I just want my basic functionality to work. How close does the part number need to be to get a replacement? I have not found anything in a web search that matches my full part number and none of the devices seem to have the exact same physical size and connections. My part number is 6512 9310468-01.

Be very careful as these units are not plug and play, and have very strong protection against using used ones (an attempt to reduce theft). Part number has little to nothing to do with it.

It would need to be programmed, and you'd have to take care of the FSC enabling codes (dealer generated codes that enable the device to work in your car). Otherwise the unit won't work correctly.
There are ways to get a used one to work, with some hacks, but it will need to be done by someone familiar with the installation and programming.

Thank you for the advice. Looks like the best option is to send this to Loigc7Repair to have the unit repaired.

Thanks for recommendation. I contacted them but they said they are not aware of any repair for that unit. Shocking that a repair of an old, somewhat basic unit costs $600. I could buy a good radio for that but would not work given this unit is also the core computer for things like iDrive. I have owned a lot of cars including a Mercedes GL 450 with 120K miles on it with no issues like this. This certainly steers me away of any BMWs in the future since it seems just about every BMW's computer fails within the first 6 years with a very high price tag to fix. What a racket.
