Hi everyone, im new to this form, I'm looking into buying my first e30. So far ive found a few condenders half in my area has somewhat rotted floors but nothing too far gone these cars are under 4Grand, the other half of the contenders are all clean cars but arde asking huge preimums (8plus thousand). I am medcannically inclinded to do body work myself but Im not sure what direction I should be going for.
Well, here’s how it works, and I’m sure others would agree. IF... a rotted out e30 is worth 4 grand then a solid, legit version is easily worth 8 grand. The difference is whether or not a buyer is savvy, or penny wise and pound foolish,( as I used to be).
The floor pans are the least of your concerns on a rusty car, corrosion has no limits to what it can attack, mechanical, electrical, or sheet metal. Saving your nickels and buying a legit car, or one that’s already been sorted out, is always a better, wiser, decision UNLESS... you are looking for a project and not a turn key driver. My car is from Texas, I drove there from Chicago to buy it AND went through just about every mechanical/hydraulic system in the car making it what it is now

Agreed. You should not be shopping for a 30 yr old car in Canada. Rust is a death sentence.
