EDC strut nut stuck at top , cant get 10mm on.

I was reinstalling the strut nut on the front passenger side on an EDC strut and the nut got stuck at the top threads just high enough so that I can't get the 10mm far enough down to grab the teeth. (Just FYI, the EDC have the plastic connector to adjust stiffness in the middle, so I can't stick a hex into the strut tower. That's why the 10mm socket is used.) Trying to be really careful here so that I don't strip it. I was following bill's guide (http://www.billswebspace.com/M3HRSpringInstallation) using a 21mm wrench on the nut and the 10mm socket on the strut. Any suggestions?

From Bill's install thread so you can see you it's done.
