    1997 328is coupe 5-speed, 120K Miles, White - Cleveland, OH

Selling my 1997 328is. I had been hoping this was going to be my long-term fun car, but as they say, plans change.

Mechanically, the car is in excellent shape, no issues with any part of the engine or drivetrain, all interior controls work, AC blows cold, etc. Even the heated seats work. I installed the BAVSound Stage 1 speakers last year to replace the OEM ones which were failing as well as an OEM radio with bluetooth retrofitted in place of the cassette deck. I also put on some reproduction M3 mirrors as I liked the look, but I still have the originals. The car has 15" wheels with Sumitomo HTR A/S P02 tires, purchased new on 5/18/19. Mileage is approximately 120500 currently, and will go up slightly over time as I'm driving it once or twice a week.

Cosmetically is where this car has a few issues, the clear-coat is unfortunately peeling all over. This was a California car for many years, so there is only a little bit of surface rust underneath, and a bubble on the rear driver's-side wheel well. Both of those are likely due to my having to drive it a bit over this past winter. There is also a dent/chip in the hood that predates my ownership.

I have many other photos, and if there's anything it particular you'd like a look at, please PM me and I'll be glad to assist.

    Asking $3500 OBO

    SOLD, as of 6/29/19

Adding some photos of the rust bubble, the undercarriage and another example of the clear-coat issues. Apologies for the one upside-down image. No matter how I edit it, it seems to come back the same...

Nice 328. How did you get the B. T. retrofit on the factory radio? Do you have more pictures you can post?

I took the easy route for the bluetooth retrofit . I bought it pre-modded on FleaBay.

Here are a few more photos. I've got more still, mostly just other angles. If there's anything in particular you'd like a better look at just let me know, it's no problem to grab a few more.

And adding a couple more. As you can see, the headliner was replaced at some point. It's not a perfect match to the original, but it at least appears to be securely in place.

How’s the clutch? Brakes? Cooling system? Any receipts? Suspension?

Unfortunately no receipts other than my own, which date back a whopping 12 months...

No slippage on the clutch that I'm aware of. I'm no mechanic at all, so I couldn't say what sort of life it's got left. The bite point is fairly quick after I start letting the clutch out, if that means much.

The brakes work as expected, including the ABS. Never had any issues coming to a stop as gradually or as quickly as I needed to. The local indy shop I've taken it to for service said I had about 70% pad life in the rear and 80% or so in the front, just before winter.

No cooling issues, I had asked that same indy shop to look it over and advise on any parts needing refurbed or replaced, they said nothing needed. I took it on a 400 mile round trip last July, and the temp needle never wavered past the center. Flushed the system before winter.

I also asked for an inspection of the suspension, again, they reported no issues found. I didn't specifically ask them to look at the RTABs which I've read can be an issue, so feel free to take that with a grain of salt.

Also, probably not going to help my sale, but in the interests of being honest and forthright about all this, I was asked for some photos of specific areas and did turn up a little more rust. It looks like I've lost 3 of the 4 rubber jacking pads, and 2 of those sites have some rust developing. Also, there's a plate, approximately under the driver's footwell that appears to be starting to rust. The unibody "frame rails" are otherwise OK, so far as I can tell.

Apologies for the orientation of these, but it's a little late here for me to fiddle with a photo editor.
