Will this thermostat fit my 1988 730i?

    Hi all,

I need to purchase a new thermostat for my 1988 730i. I found this one and it has good reviews.

    https://www.sparesbox.com.au/part/da...ermostat-dt62b

I am wondering if it will fit an M30 engine 730i?

The specifications say it will fit a 735i.

I cannot find a thermostat for the 730i anywhere in Australia - only for the 735i.

    Thank you.

    spec says under compatible vehicles also BMW 7 Series 730 i,iL (E32) 1990 - 1994 Year 1990 - 1994 Series 730 i,iL (E32) , also E28, E34, 91 Degrees C
based on ETK it would be Thermostat 80CEL 11531710953 , fits many engines https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...c/11531710953/
and that has these dimensions , compare with the dimensions shown in your link https://www.daparto.de/Teilenummernsuche/Wahler/423580d

The one you found is too expensive, google for Wahler Thermostat 4235.80D , for example on Ebay you can find them much cheaper incl. shipping to Aus. and Wahler is a good brand

    Ebay Aus has a Gates t-stat for $54 and they says it fits E32 730 M30B30 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Gates-TH...UAAOSwSbxbSA7M
"Please, Send Us your Vehicle's VIN Number if you are not sure whether this part will Fit in your Vehicle. We are happy to help you"

That shop Extra Mile Auto Parts in Dandenong South, Victoria has a lot for E32 and it located in AUS https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/m.html?_...w+e32&_sacat=0

    Thank you for the information.

I have purchased the $54 thermostat that you sent. However - there is one problem. I took out the thermostat housing today, and unfortunately the bolts were very rusted and the head snapped. I extracted them using a screw extractor, but i don't know where to buy new ones. The ones i am talking about are the 2 very long ones that hold the thermostat cover on the housing. Any ideas?

always use the ETK with your VIN, so there are Hex bolt with washer 07119915046 M6X25-Z3, and the long ones are 07119912288 M6X70-Z3 http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E3...ostat_housing/ picture https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/07119912288/
take the rest of the snapped ones, there you can see the pitch, go to a hardware shop in town and buy 2 x bolts M6X70 and washers, easy. I assume the pitch is 1mm for M6, but better check on the old ones.
    Fits: BMW Hex Bolt with Washer For M5, E34, E32, 750iL, 740iL, 740i, 735iL, 735i, 730i, 730iL, 540i, 535i, 530i, 525i
