Just had the EGR Cooler Recall completed at the local dealership --- third owner car w/ about 58k miles.
They spent most of a day doing the diagnostics and said the cooler needed to be replaced.
After saying the parts could take up to a week to arrive, I got a call today that the car was ready --- just two days later.
They gave me a loaner X1, which I appreciated, but was not impressed with, and not trying to be snob-ish, I'll just leave it at that.
When asked if the replacement parts were just new versions of the defective parts or were they redesigned in any way, the SA called
the mechanic (presumably) and was told they were 'redesigned' --- but no details. Humm.
The intake manifold was not replaced; there were no charges of any sort.
The SA also said mine was one of the only ones inspected to actually need replacement parts (which I took as complete CYA BS).
I stopped by during the process to get a few items from the car (thinking the one week thing really meant two or more), I
saw the car mid-repair. Lets just say the engine bay was only about half full of engine . . . eek.
Car made it home from the dealership just fine, but I will be watching for 'issues', warning lights, etc real close.
Would greatly appreciate hearing of others experiences, especially how things go after the fix!

Dropped off my 2014 535d on Friday, called dealer today and was told they needed to scope the EGR and send it to BMW for review and they are closed weekends. I got a 2019 330I loaner which I appreciate. More to follow.

Got a call today that BMW reviewed the scope data on my EGR and it did not need to be replaced, so I was able to pick her up today. The 2019 330i loaner was decent, but missed the room and smooth ride of my 2014 535d, the 330i simply is not for me, it’s more of a younger man’s car.

After mine was scoped answer came back that egr cooler and other parts needed to be replaced. Many new parts replaced invoicing bmw for $2399.
So I got the notification but it said they would get in touch with me when parts were available. Did you ask the dealer to inspect your car or did they call you?
