Heater blows ambiant temp air - No AC and no heat

2005 E60 525i cabin HVAC only blows ambient (not hot and not cool) air no matter what the temp settings are set to. Blower seems fine and AC compressor clutch appears to be engaging (I need to check temp of AC lines to see if there is anything going on there). I turn the temp up or down and it doesn't change no matter what. AC on Max, Off, Auto, whatever, it does not affect the temperature.

I recently did a head gasket job and everything else appears fine and I have driven it for about a thousand miles or so. I ran my INPA and did get a Klima 9C55 error indicating a condensation sensor issue and have not replaced that yet as I suspect this is not the cause based on what others have reported as symptoms when that sensor goes bad.

Suggestions please. It's starting to get warmer here in NH and after that the snow flies!

Sounds like you have a stuck heater control valve. Easy fix and don’t think it throws a code.

Could you (BostonJon) or someone point me to where I can learn how to unstick a stuck heater control valve?

Same sort of thing was happening to me with my 2007 530i. I discovered that if I go into the climate settings through the display unit via the turn knob on the center console, I can turn down the heat through that method and get much cooler a/c through the vents. Not sure if this is the way it's supposed to be, but on my car, that's the way I can turn it down cooler. Before I did that, I could have the turn knob right above the cd player turned all the way down and it still wouldn't be cold. So in my situation, I was getting half hot air and half cold air (a/c) until I turned down the warm input through the climate folder.
