Hello, it's my first time posting on here. I have a 2012 BMW 535i, the gasket for the oil housing went bad. I know how to get to it, but do I need to drain all the coolant from the radiator and oil from the oil pan in order to do this repair? If I do have to drain both when I am finished do I need to bleed the system when I refill the coolant into the radiator? YouTube/Google doesn't have a lot of information on this part.
I was recently made aware of this stigmatic issue with this car. I also did some due diligence on this; there are plenty of YouTube videos regarding this repair. I do remember seeing one where the mech. placed a foil pan under those hose in the front and let them drain a lil bit upon loosening them. I’m sure one of them will have a more in depth answer to your question.

You do need to fill and bleed the cooling system afterwards. You do not need to drain the engine oil. Some people think it's a good idea to do an oil change after performing this repair, in case any coolant goes down the oil passage, but I never do, and have never had an issue.

Do you have any tips on draining the cooling system, I'm only going to be using two Jack's to well Jack up the front end so I dont think I'll have enough room to fit a 5 gallon bucket under there. So I'm trying to figure out a way to transfer the coolant from the draining point to a big enough bucket. Or any good tips for the entire repair for that fact would be much appreciated.

I would purchase a drain pan at an auto parts store. And you're going to need to remove the underbody panel. Otherwise the coolant will just flood the belly pan and run out all over the place.
