My stepdaughter has a 2005 X3 Automatic and occassionally it will stall in the middle of the intersection after leaving the light. It always seems to happen in the middle of the intersection after accelerating from stop. Frantically turning the key off and restart and the car runs fine until its next random episode. Checked codes and main thing showing up is a faulty temperature sensor??
Any suggestions on diagnostics or solutions are greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance! This forum and its members have been a wealth of knowledge so far and make owning a BMW with issues a lot more bearable!
Checking fuel pressure would be the first thing I would do. It might be the time to replace the filter...
what's the battery and alternator condition...do you have the correct battery?...you should have group #49...These SUVs
(BMWs for sure) demand their power and if you delay, you or your stepdaughter will pay.

I just went through this with my daughter's 2006 x3. I found an obscure post at the end of the internet. I bought the camshaft position sensor on Amazon with "o" ring and changed it out my self in 45 minutes. Worked perfectly. This needs to be circulated more. I did need to also buy the 32 mm fantool to loosen the camshaft solenoid. Made it very easy. Also, take off the oil filter housing for easier access.
