Anyone think it is even possible or has anyone experienced airflow error codes after using 91 octane in an F10 535i? Recommended fuel is 89 or higher & I use 89 all the time. Last week I filled up at a Costco that only had 87 & 91 to choose from so I used 91. 3/4s of the way through the tank of gas I get a drive train malfunction with codes for air flow issues.
Doesn't make sense that this would be an issue, but I just had the car serviced at BMW about a month ago.

The octane gas zero to do with your problem. Modern cars can run on anything from 87 octane on up. Why? The engine computer senses when the engine is pinging or knocking. Btw, pinging and knocking are caused by improperly low octane. When the engine senses pinging it knocking it retards the ignition.
The first step in diagnosing a problem is to scan the engine computer for codes. What codes are you seeing?
Thanks for the reply. In the end it was an air flow sensor that was not attached properly. Reattached it correctly and all has been well for a few months now. Easy free fix.
