automatic transmission stuck on 4th gear

hello guys! when i put my car on <<D>> its start with 4th.. if i go my gear on <<1>> its shift down on 3rd..
when select <<S>> or <<M>> buttoms doesn work! the light switch but not stuck and car is stack on 4th!
any idea??

Which transmission do you have? ZF 5HP18, as it is a EURO spec. car? Which engine? Built year/month?

Today the car when i press "D" start with first gear but change until 4th gear very fast after i change from N to D

Hello!! My e36 320 with gm 4l30e change all gear.. When car is cold is work fine but when is hot and i run up to 120kmh, the car not shift down... Is stuxk on 4th gear

Did you check the ATF fluid level? When did you last time change fluid filter and ATF?
check if the cable for the gearshift is correctly installed on the transmission side

Hello my friend, i change atf before 6 days
I will check the cable! Maybe solenoid valves??
