Cool 2001 X5 3.0 Aux fan not working

My aux fan will not turn on when the A/C is turned on and if the car idles long enough while in park it will over heat. I checked my compressor and it seems to work just fine. I also replaced the temp sensor on the lower radiator hose and still no luck. I realized that there is a spot for a "recirculated air sensor" on the inter shroud for the fan clutch and it is missing but the wiring for the sensor is there and is capped off. Could this be the reason for my aux fan not working? Or is there a way to test the Aux fan? I cant find any YouTube videos on this problem of mine. Some insight would be greatly appreciated..... oh yeah i also checked the fuses behind the glove box and in the rear compartment of the vehicle and they were all fine. Are there any other fuses or relays I should know about? I also replaced the thermostat two weeks ago....Sorry one more question. I live in Bellingham WA and it has been around 70 degrees outside and while driving I noticed my coolant temp has been been between 204 and 210 degrees Farenheit and at one time as high as 215 degrees Farenheit.... would you say that is normall or is it something to worry about? The temperature guage always stays in the middle unless it idles long enough while in park.

Anytime we would get an overheating e53 or the expansion tank had cracked we would always check the aux fan with the autologic and 99% of the time the fan would be dead. So it would be nice if you could fine a shop that could run the test with the auto logic or some thing similar

Recently had the same problem on my 1998 M3 -- no Aux fan under load or with AC. My indy shop tested and found the fan relays were shot -- replaced both low and high speed relays, and the fan switch, and good as new.

You can unplug the AC high pressure switch located on the right side (passenger) 'frame rail' AC line. Fan should default to high speed. You can also activate the fan via INPA.

I recently purchasted the FOXWELL NT520 PRO intalled with the BMW software. I has bidirectional commands and when i activated the test on my aux fan it kicks it on for just a split second and it only turns about half a spin. Do you think the fan is shot or maybe is the fan just not lubricated enought to turn all the way?

Try what I said above to confirm. Takes 5 seconds. Sounds like your fan is bad to me.

Hi people, my fan isn't working either. (2001 x5). Are there troubleshooting tests i can do that don't involve taking the car to a shop to run "logic tests"? I have voltage at the fan connector so i assume the fuse isn't blown? I replaced the fan, next i was going to replace the relay and the fan switch? Is the temp sensor called the "cooling fan switch"? I can't find the part online since i'm not sure what the name is.

Hi guys, this is a great forum! I bought a well used 03 x5 and ac pump and climate control fan wouldn’t come on. I replaced the fan resistor and now have interior fan working. Aux fan doesn’t work either, ac pump will run if i use jumper wire on backside of climate control panel. I tried another climate control panel with the same result. I also unplugged ac temp sensor with no result. Fuses are all good. Is there relays for aux fan and if they’re bad will ac compressor not run? Also is the mechanical engine cooling fan supposed to have a shroud around it?

The test is so easy call a shop and find out if they have the auto logic and you want your fan tested
