    OT: 65 Malibu rebuild.

After sitting since 2003 with a little (very little) work here and there over those passing years, I have got our 1965 Chevy Chevelle Malibu 4dr wagon running again.

Last week I got it insured and registered for the first time since 2003 - it has been on California non-op since then.

Rebuild - with a few hi-op parts: first gen 327 backed by a rebuilt 700r4 tranny. New carpet, total new wiring from American Autowiring and lots of new and refurbished parts front to back.

I have to color sand, buff and polish the whole car as the repaint left a lot to be desired. It polishing out to a 6 to 7 finish.

Almost ready for the first test drive.

More of inside of engine parts, heads were cut for larger valves then part matched and bending to new valve sizes.

Love it! A new wiring harness is pretty dedicated, definitely looks like a labor of love from you. Is there a story behind the Malibu?

We (I) bought the wagon in 1990 for a family car and Kathy's daily driver, spent a year and a half rebuilding it back then. Upgraded front suspension with HO Racing front springs and 1 11/16 front sway bar. 1972 Camero front spindles and disk brakes long with Global West tubular upper control arms made for this swap.

Went through everything on the car back then, about 10,000 in the rebuild, we are the third owners of the wagon.

I love that wagon...I am weak for a wagon. Nice job...I am sure it will haul groceries at a well established pace.

My brother had a 1969 that he left with us when he went on a long trip...he almost didn't get it back.

Sweet! This strongly reminds me of the '72 Old Cutlass wagon my mom had when I was a kid..

Awesome ! last year I bought a 71 chevelle that was sitting for 13+years. Every hour I wasn't working I put into the chevelle. Built a 406 sbc for it, converted it to manual and did full suspension. Very fun car and it handles pretty good.

Sweet, Chevelles are fun to drive.

Wagon was the wife's dd back in the 90's - this was mine, second work truck too:

That is a beautiful wagon. Reminds me that I need to find time to get my '59 Ranch Wagon going again.

That's awesome the wagon is getting attention. It's a big beauty. If I had a yard I'd have big cars...

Congrats Daryl on getting it going! What a progress! I remember seeing it sitting in the back of your carport missing most of the front end...

Thanks Max - Yes it sat for many years with no front body work, engine or trans. It had to watch the Track call sibling get all the love and attention for about 9 years.

Nice work old man! Gotta love the sound of a screaming small block. Seems everyone in high school had a small block under their hood. Even the girls. Big blocks have their place but I appreciate the balance of the lighter blocks. Good luck with the progress!
