The E46 is rolling computer. Whacky voltages cause whacky issues. The first thing I recommend you check is the electrical system. Google “BMW E46 hidden obc functions.” Test #9 shows the voltage as seen by the engine computer (DME in BMWspeak). Record and report the voltage when the:
- ignition is in the run position but with the engine off
- engine idling
- engine revving at 2000rpm.

Also, how old is the battery?

hello MarcoZandrini ty for getting back to me sorry it has been a week or more but I been so busy but I did it & it is 142 with the engine on and 128 engine off but I just did it with the engine idling ?

Those voltages are fine. Someone mentioned the ignition switch. I’m skeptical as the gauge cluster is getting what appears to be proper voltages. However, you could remove the switch and clean the contacts with a relay contact file and electrical contact cleaner. The switch it located on the opposite side of the steering column from where you insert the key. The two parts-the ignition key lock and the ignition switch-are connected by a plastic rod. Basically, you need to remove the underside of the plastic cover that surround the steering column at the steering wheel. That’ll give you access to the switch itself. Disconnect the ground/earth/negative cable from the battery. Then clean the contacts. You may have to remove the switch from the column. Go to www.realoem.com and enter the last 7 characters of the car’s vehicle identification number. Hit enter and bookmark the page. Scroll down to steering. Click on the icon and scroll down to see the parts involved.
