Want to replace reverse light bulb with slightly longer one, will it fit?

Hi guys, my reverse bulb went out and I'd like to put in a super bright LED one, specifically this one:

I checked that a 921 bulb will fit, only thing is this bulb is a little longer in length than the original bulb is.

Did BMW engineers give the bulb a couple centimeters extra for clearance or will this bulb not fit? Anyone have experience with this? Thanks!

I went with Super Bright LED reverse lamp, due to two of my three E36’s having (probably illegal California based) tinted windows.
I don’t know about the length issue.

Length should be fine. Lots of the LED options are longer than stock incandescents.

And of course, Amazon...easy returns so...

Thanks, I'll just try it out and report back here on how it works for future reference.

For anyone interested, the bulb did in fact work. It was probably a good 1/4 inch if not 1/2 inch longer and it still fit fine.

Now I got LED backup lights!

Yep!! I can now see ‘stuff’ out the back window (California tint) and in the side mirrors of my wife’s E36 when backing at night. I love these BRIGHT LEDs.…and no OBC errors.
