Wanted to start a thread, to keep track of my prugress, although a little late in the game. I bought my wagon, after buying a $20 scratch off, from a kid at work. Here's an idea of how it looked when purchased. But, it didn't have a front bumper and the SLS was dead. And it was missing the driver door handle.

The week before I purchased it, I picked up a prefacelift, front bumper and fog lights, to have it ready for install, when I bought it. As soon as I purchased it, I replaced the VCG and did vanos rebuild. Started ordering/scavenging parts for it to get it back together. The dash is still lit up like a Christmas tree and I still ha e along way to go. But I'm slowly digging in to it. CEL is on for both rear o2s. Air bag light is on, its a rebuild title. Just replaced the steering wheel air, need other items still. It has the brake trifecra... Ive replaced the two right speed sensors and repaired the rear left one. I have 540 brake assembly to install, and all new parts to rebuild the rears. And E60 hubs for when I decide to switch to the style 95s.

I replaced the SLS compressor (it was dead. Looked to ha r been submerged in water), both air springs and shocks (bilstien b6). It still leaks, but very slowly. I did notice that the solenoid orings looked worn... I have new solenoids awaiting install.

Cats are clogged... I have headers to install.
Headlights adjuster are broken and the headlight level sensor is broken.... I have freshly rebuilt headlights and a new sensor to install.
Neither front window rolls down... I have both window regulators waiting to go in.
Power steering leak.. I fixed the worst of it by replacing the reservoir... Theres still a small leak coming from the pump to rack hose. I have one waiting to go in.
Subframe bushings are shot... I have new ones waiting to go in.
Sits too high in the front and front right shock is blown... I have coilovers waiting to go in. Still need to address the control arms. Last time it was on a lift, I was told I needed a bushing on one side and a ball joint on the other
I'll have to investigate a little farther. The right front tire moves from 3 to 9, by hand. It also has a really bad shimmy, when I get up to about 55 to 60 mph, turn right or hit the brakes.
There's more, but I can't think of it off the top of my head right now.
The car hasn't been driven since october, due to a battery issue, that I have yet to dig in to. I just pulled the battery out and put it on a battery tender in the mean time. Insurance gets dropped on the car, by the end of the month, so I can start working on it. Just wanted to get a little drive time in, in the last week, before it goes under the knife
The 3 to 9 shimmy is prolly bad tie rods, at this rate id change both inner and outer
Aux fan doesn't work, but ac blows cold. I have another aux fan to out in its place.

Good to know... I will probably do a complete overhaul, when I get a chance, just to do it all at once.
Had facelift headlights on it when I bought it. But the angel eyes didn't work. I've got the power off the fog lights for now. Also had 8000K low beams; wasn't a fan of the blue, put 6000K bulbs in. After installing the M5 bumper and getting fog lights, I put Hella Optilux 3500k bulbs in.

Raise it up a bit, it's too low. Don't be a stancetard! These cars deserve much better. Aside from that, love the love you are giving the car.

I definitely won't be driving it this low. Just installed at the lowest setting, to see where it would sit. According to schmeidmann, they were "60mm coilovers". There is absolutely no down motion left in the struts at this height. Which effects the rear as well. While the rear lifted some it just wasn't enough. I may try to at least set it where I can fit a finger, maybe two, above the tire.
sell those mirrors to me as I will not even have to paint them! (JOKE)

Got the brakes done today. These were the rear rotors off the car. Installed 540 brakes up front. And, replaced everything in the back. Adjusted the e-brake shoes. I still have the yellow BRAKE light on my instrument cluster. Took it for a little test drive, to check the brakes and make sure all was well. Found out my rims were rubbing the coilovers... they used Clip weights, that keep hitting the coilovers on rotation. I'll have to see if I can get tape weights. I may need to run some spacers, in the front as well. I can hear the tire lightly rubbing.

Cars parked for a while, so I can work on it, when I get an opportunity to get things done to it. I had my bumper off and decided to take a look at my dead aux fan... Only to find out that it has the wrong one. Hopefully, my replacement resolves it.

Where did you find that door logo light? The e39 is unique, I bought one from e-bay that said fits e39 but it's too small.
